Vinod Rathod

Life
He was born in Bombay in 1962, trained under his father, and after early work in regional films was given Hindi songs by Anand-Milind and Laxmikant-Pyarelal around 1990. Khal Nayak (1993), Raja Babu (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) and Sarfarosh (Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye) gave him his hits; Anu Malik and Nadeem-Shravan used him often. His work slowed after 2000; his elder brother Roop Kumar Rathod is a ghazal and playback singer.
The voice
Vinod Rathod's voice is a clear, forward tenor with a comic bounce that David Dhawan's films needed, and a serious side heard in Sarfarosh and Khal Nayak.
