Sadhana Sargam
Sadhana Sargam sang Pehla Nasha with Udit Narayan in 1992 and Saat Samundar Paar for Vishwatma the same year, and spent the next fifteen years as the voice composers turned to for the song that needed classical weight: Chupke Se in Saathiya (National Award), Aao Na in Kyun! Ho Gaya Na, Hai Rama in Rangeela's year. She is a trained Hindustani singer from a family of musicians and has sung extensively in Tamil and Marathi.

Life
Sadhana Ghanekar was born in Dabhol in 1969; her mother Neela Ghanekar was a classical singer and teacher, and she trained under Pandit Jasraj and others. She sang as a child for Vasant Desai and in the chorus of the 1970s, and her first adult hits came with Kalyanji-Anandji's Tridev (Main Teri Mohabbat Mein, 1989) and Rajesh Roshan's Khudgarz (Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se, 1987, with Mohammed Aziz). Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Vishwatma, Saathiya, Kyun! Ho Gaya Na and a long list of Tamil films for A.R. Rahman and Ilaiyaraaja followed.
She won the National Award for Chupke Se (Saathiya, 2002) and a second for a Tamil song in 2005, and continues to record and perform in several languages.
The voice
Sadhana Sargam's voice is clear, well-produced and classically secure, lighter than Kavita Krishnamurthy's and more rounded than Alka Yagnik's; it carries ornament without fuss, which is why Rahman and Gulzar gave her Chupke Se, and why the slow semi-classical song in a 1990s film so often turned out to be hers.
