Richa Sharma
Richa Sharma sang devotional music in Faridabad and Delhi, came to Mumbai in 1996, and became a film voice with Billo Rani (Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal), Mahi Ve (Kaante), Sajdaa (My Name Is Khan, with Rahat and Shankar Mahadevan), Maahi (Raaz 2) and Jag Soona Soona Laage (Om Shanti Om). Her bhajans and Sufi albums — especially her Mata ki chowki and shabad recordings — are as widely heard as her film songs.

Life
She was born in Faridabad in 1974, sang bhajans and jagratas as a child, and trained in classical music; Sanjay Dutt heard her and encouraged her, and Anu Malik gave her a first song in Sapnay (1997). Anand Raj Anand's Mahi Ve (2002), Pritam's Billo Rani (2007) and Jag Soona Soona Laage (Vishal-Shekhar, 2007) made her known; she has sung for Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam, Vishal Bhardwaj and A.R. Rahman, and devotes much of her time to devotional concerts.
The voice
A deep, husky, forceful Punjabi voice with a Sufi singer's open throat and a devotional singer's conviction.
