Abhijeet Bhattacharya spent most of the 1990s as one of the three or four leading male singers and, from Yes Boss (1997) to Chalte Chalte (2003), as the voice most often heard behind Shah Rukh Khan: Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon, Suno Na, Chalte Chalte, Woh Ladki Jo. Ole Ole in Yeh Dillagi (1994) had already made him a name.

Life
He was born in Kanpur in 1958 and sang in stage shows before coming to Bombay in the early 1980s; R.D. Burman gave him his first songs in the mid-1980s, and Anand-Milind, Jatin-Lalit and Anu Malik used him from 1990. Baaghi (Chandni O Meri Chandni), Khiladi (Waada Raha Sanam), Yeh Dillagi (Ole Ole), Yes Boss, Badshah, Josh and Chalte Chalte made him the voice of Shah Rukh Khan in the Yash Raj and Dharma years; he also sang for Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Govinda, and in Bengali.
He won the Filmfare Award for Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon in 1998. In the mid-2000s he fell out with parts of the industry and said he would not sing for Shah Rukh Khan again; he sings on stage and has recorded independently since.
The voice
Abhijeet's voice is a clear, boyish tenor with a slight rasp, more spoken than sung at the start of a line, and a swing that suited the upbeat 1990s' romantic song and the title track.
