Life
She was born in Mumbai in 1989 to a Marathi theatre and music family, trained in Hindustani classical music, studied jazz and Western vocals, and sang in bands and jingles before Amit Trivedi's Pareshaan. Pritam gave her most of her hits; she has since released independent pop in English and Hindi, judged television and performs with her band.
The voice
A bright, full, jazz-schooled voice with precise rhythm and a brassy edge made for the big chorus.
