Rekha Bhardwaj
Rekha Bhardwaj trained in classical music, married the composer Vishal Bhardwaj, and recorded her first album, Ishqa Ishqa, in 2002 to Gulzar's words. Namak Ishq Ka (Omkara), Sasural Genda Phool (Delhi-6), Badi Dheere Jali (Ishqiya, the National Award), Darling, Phir Le Aaya Dil (Barfi!), Kabira (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and Ghagra made her the voice composers call for the low, knowing, Sufi-flavoured song.

Life
She was born in Delhi in 1964, studied music at Hindu College and under Pandit Amarnath, and met Vishal Bhardwaj there; they married in 1991. Ishqa Ishqa (2002) was followed by Namak Ishq Ka (2006), Genda Phool (2009), Badi Dheere Jali (Ishqiya, 2010, National Award), Darling (Filmfare Award), Phir Le Aaya Dil, Kabira, Ghagra, Hamari Atariya (Dedh Ishqiya) and much concert work in Sufi music and ghazal.
The voice
A low, husky, slightly cracked voice with a Sufi singer's abandon and a ghazal singer's weight on the word — unmistakable within a bar.
