Life
She was born in Delhi in 1989 and raised in Brampton, Ontario, where her father played in a band; her covers of Hindi and English songs drew millions of views, and Vishal-Shekhar and Rahman recorded her from 2013. She has since sung in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi for Rahman, Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar, Amit Trivedi and Anirudh, toured with Rahman and released independent singles.
The voice
A clean, modern, Western-trained pop voice with a smooth upper range and an easy swing; Rahman's Tamil work drew out a more ornamented side.
