Jani Babu Qawwal
Jani Babu, the Bombay qawwal famous for his stage presence and his muqablas with Shankar-Shambhu, recorded Mohabbat Ki Baatein, Chhaap Tilak, Mere Mehboob and dozens of film-style qawwalis through the 1970s, and sang for a few films including Dil Ki Rahen and Aag Aur Shola.

Life
He was born in Bombay in 1935, began at urs gatherings in his teens, and became the city's most popular qawwal in the 1960s; HMV and Polydor recorded him, and he performed until shortly before his death in 2007.
