Farida Khanum
Farida Khanum, of the Patiala gharana, is the Malika-e-Ghazal of Pakistan; Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo (Fayyaz Hashmi's words, Sohail Rana's tune) is hers for ever, and Woh Ishq Jo Humse Rooth Gaya, Mohabbat Karne Wale Kam Na Honge and her Daagh and Faiz settings fill out a repertoire of great dignity.
