Life

They were born in Jaipur, trained in Jaipur-Atrauli khayal under their father, began as classical singers, and turned to the ghazal in the late 1970s; Guldasta was a cassette-era hit, and they have performed together for fifty years, with only occasional film work. They received the Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

The voice

Two trained classical tenors singing in close unison and harmony, with a Jaipur gharana elegance in the taans — the most 'classical' ghazal duo.
