C.H. Atma
Chainani Hassomal Atma sang in the manner of K.L. Saigal at a time when that manner was passing, and had a hit with Preetam Aan Milo (1945), a non-film song composed by O.P. Nayyar before Nayyar had entered films. He sang a handful of film songs — Bhagam Bhag, Nagina — and concerts for decades, and remained a favourite of the Radio Ceylon generation.

Life
He was born in Sindh in 1924 and worked as a clerk in Bombay while singing on radio; Preetam Aan Milo, recorded for HMV in 1945, made him known across north India, and O.P. Nayyar reused the tune in Mr. & Mrs. 55 for Geeta Dutt a decade later. He sang in films sporadically — Bhagam Bhag (1956), Nagina (1951), Geet Gaya Patharon Ne — and on records and stages through the 1950s and 1960s. He died in Bombay in 2002.
The voice
C.H. Atma's voice was a straight, heavy baritone with the Saigal timbre and a plainness of delivery that gave his sad songs their appeal.
